Community Notice
Aloha 🌺
The soft opening for the Punaluʻu Farmer’s Market has begun, taking it slow, and doing it the right way for ke kaiāulu ō Kaʻū , the Kaʻū community.
The market will run every Sunday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, focusing on supporting Kaʻū vendors as priority. Together, we will build this community marketplace step by step, listening to the community along the way.
The Market is located within a designated area, not on the beach.
Beach parking is limited to authorized vehicles only, and there are designated parking areas for vendors, kamaʻāina and visitors. Kamaʻāina park for free.
Cultural and sensitive areas are known and are being respected and protected.
We are currently getting things ready and welcoming applications from local Farmer’s, food vendors, artisans, and small businesses who meet basic quality and compliance standards.
Our goal is simple, mālama i ka ʻāina, support local, and create something that feels right for this place and our people.

E komo mai! The Punaluʻu Farmers Market is here to support local people, local work, and the place we all share.
Creating opportunities for farmers, makers, and small businesses in Kaʻū, we also welcome visitors to experience a space where people can learn about the land, the culture, and the stories behind what’s grown and made here.
Because Punaluʻu is a place with deep history and a unique natural environment, we care in how this market is held. Respect for the land, the community, and local culture guides how we operate — now and into the future.
This market is a place where:
- local work is valued
- local food is shared
- visitors learn by observing and participating respectfully
Market Schedule
Community Market Day
Community Market Day: Every Sunday
Market Hours: 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM
Vendor Setup: 7:30 AM
Community Harmony
Our Sunday schedule is intentionally chosen to complement existing farmers markets in Kaʻū, not compete with them. Currently, there are no Farmer’s markets held on Sundays in the Kaʻū district, allowing this market to create new opportunities for local vendors and the community without overlapping with existing markets.
This approach helps create more opportunities for local vendors while supporting a healthy market ecosystem across the district.

Vendor Parking & Load-In Information
All registered vendors are provided free designated parking in the Vendor Parking Lot, located directly across from the public paid parking area at Punaluʻu.
This vendor-only lot allows for:
- Convenient access for unloading and setup
- Safe, organized parking during market hours
- Clear separation from public traffic to reduce congestion
Please follow posted Vendor Parking signage and on-site staff instructions upon arrival. This helps ensure a smooth setup process for everyone and keeps the market flow safe and efficient.

Environmental and Cultural Protection Is Everyone’s Responsibility
The Punaluu Farmers Market, through its operation and public access, provides sustainable business and employment opportunities for the local community. At the same time, by encouraging visitors to spend time away from the immediate shoreline and in designated inland areas, the farmers market helps reduce pressure on the beach environment. This contributes to the protection of the coastline and the conservation of endangered species, including sea turtles.
To support these efforts, vehicles are strictly prohibited from driving toward or parking on the beach or in shoreline areas. If you observe a vehicle parked on the beach, we kindly ask that you offer a respectful and courteous reminder.
By working together with care and respect, we can help protect this sacred and beautiful place for future generations.
